About
What is this place?
A place to learn how money works by practicing it with your own numbers. Free to learn, plain in its words, and it never tells you what to buy.
What is it
A library of short guides written plainly, a set of calculators that print the formula they used, a game played on years that really happened, and a place where your own numbers live and the lessons use them. Each lesson is about five minutes: a plain explanation, a check with your own figures, and one real thing to go do. There are four roads, one for each kind of person who comes here, and a set of readers for whatever you were handed: a pay stub, a benefits email, a tax return, a packet about a property or business for sale.
Who is it for
Someone who just got a first job and has never seen a pay stub explained. Someone who works for a living and has accounts nobody ever walked them through. Someone who wants to start a business and needs the numbers before the logo. Someone who runs one and wants it to pay its owner. Nobody taught most of us this, and the site assumes nothing. A professional finds the arithmetic laid out with its working; a first timer finds each word explained the first time it appears.
Why use it
Because reading about money does not teach it; doing the arithmetic with your own numbers does. Because the hard parts, a bad year in the market, a job lost for six months, are safer rehearsed than met. Because every number here carries its date and its source, so you can check it. And because it never sells you anything, which means it has no reason to flatter you.
Why trust it
No ads, no affiliate links, no product behind it, no rating that hides how it was made. Every answer the site writes is checked for advice language before you see it, and one that drifts toward telling you what to do is withheld rather than shown. Every guide is checked against its sources and prints the day it was last checked; outside review, where it has happened, is noted on the guide. The rules it cites link to the agency that wrote them. Your numbers stay on your device unless you sign in and ask for them to follow you. A file you hand over is opened in your browser; only the text on its pages is sent to the model that reads it, and nothing is kept unless you sign in and ask for it to be. What works today says plainly what does and does not, and How it grows says how a title becomes a guide.
What you get
Everything that teaches. Your numbers stay on this device. Every guide, every lesson, every calculator, both games, the landscape of rules, the readers, and a taste of each tool that costs us money to run. Most people learn everything they came for here and never pay. That is by design.
What else can I get
Your numbers follow you to every device, your history is kept, and the free monthly limits on questions and readers are lifted. A Resident's place is synced across devices with its full history and seasons, the monthly counts come off the companion, the walks, and the deal reader, game runs are saved with their path summaries, the notebook and decisions are kept for years, and everything can be exported at any time. $12 a month, or $99 a year. Schools, partners, and owners who want a person have their own plans. All of it side by side.
Why is it worth it
The free site answers; a Resident's place remembers. Money comes around in seasons, a raise, a year end, tax time, a deal on the desk, and each one is easier the second time when the first is kept beside it. The membership costs less a month than one fee most people are paying without knowing, and the fee calculator will show you which.
How does it benefit you
You will understand your own pay stub, your own benefits, your own accounts and loans, and what each number on them means, in words you could explain to a friend. You will have done the arithmetic yourself, so no one can hurry you past it. You will know which professional to ask what, and what to ask them. And you will have rehearsed the years that break people, before they come.
Why keep using it
Because your numbers change and the site keeps up with them: hand it the new document and every step and tool already knows. Because the library is built to grow every week, How it grows shows the log, and the questions readers ask are the first thing it reads when deciding what to write next. Because a decision you wrote down is scored when it resolves, and that record is worth more each year it runs. And because the hardest thing about money is not knowing it once but staying with it, and a place that remembers makes staying easy.
