Your money, understood · Lesson 3 of 6
What your fund charges you, in dollars
Every fund takes a fee, quietly, out of your returns. It is written as a percent like 0.03 or 0.85 and it feels tiny. It is not tiny. Over thirty years a 1 percent fee takes about a quarter of everything you would have had.
The fee is called the expense ratio. It is printed on the fund's page. Most people have never looked.
